This is a story about a boy. And a girl. Some of it’s true. Some of it isn’t. And I’m not going to tell you which is which.
Internationally acclaimed Worklight Theatre presents this startling new play about masculinity.
Following the success of the multi award-winning Labels (Scotsman Fringe First 2015), writer and solo performer Joe Sellman-Leava blends together vastly different voices (including Mike Tyson, Patrick Stewart and Shakespeare!) into a new story. This is an epic one-man play where heroes clash with villains, men become monsters, and truth and fiction collide.
Monster was developed and premiered in the first year of the Trump presidency, but prior to the ongoing allegations of sexual assault and misconduct against a growing list of famous and powerful men. The play is touring the UK in 2018, in the midst an urgent conversation about masculinity and male attitudes to women.
“Brimming with earnest, intelligent energy and jumping between threads seamlessly, deftly reconstructing scenes, arguments and interviews with nothing but a pair of red steel chairs for a set”
